Ayurvedic way: A daily routine is necessary to bring positive changes in the body, mind, and consciousness. Having a regular fixed routine also helps to establish balance in one’s constitution, regularizing a person’s biological clock, aids digestion, absorption, and assimilation, and generates self-esteem, discipline, happiness, peace, and longevity.

1.Wake up early!
If one wishes to have a long and healthy life, waking up early is quintessential. It maintains our connection to the circadian rhythms of nature. One should ideally wake up before 1 to 1.5 hrs before sunrise which is called the bramha muhurta.
Though Sunrise varies according to the seasons, on average vata dominant people should get up about 6 a.m., pitta people by 5:30 a.m., and Kapha by 4:30 a.m.
2. Being Grateful.
Yes, you heard it right! Gratitude is the most important emotion which people most often suppress. Expressing gratefulness makes us humble which in turn, takes us a long way in life.
3. Drinking water.
It is well known that an apple a day keeps the Doctor away! But, a more promising statement would be-1L of water empty stomach in the morning keeps the Doctor away. It washes the GI track, flushes the kidneys stimulating peristalsis.
One should sit, or better squat, on the toilet and have a bowel movement. Improper digestion of the previous night’s heavy meal or lack of sound sleep can prevent this. However, the water, followed by sitting on the toilet at a set time every day, helps to regulate bowel movements. Alternate nostril breathing may also help.
5. Oil Pulling
You may have already heard of oil pulling, as it is currently becoming a health trend. It involves pulling or swishing oil through the teeth for twenty minutes to support overall oral health and hygiene.
Do it every morning to strengthen gums, whiten teeth, eradicate plaque, rebuild enamel, draw toxins out of the body, eliminate bad breath. Use Coconut oil or Sesame Oil (antibacterial, rejuvenating).
6. Cleaning your Tongue and Teeth
No Rocket Science! Just scrape(gently) the tongue from the back forward, until you have scraped the whole surface for 7–14 strokes. It stimulates the internal organs, helps digestion, and removes dead bacteria. For brushing use a simple Neem stick (traditional Indian toothbrush)

Putting 2 to 3 drops of warm ghee or oil into each nostril in the morning helps to lubricate the nose, clean the sinuses, and improve voice, vision, and mental clarity. Our nose is the door to the brain, so nose drops nourish prana and activates intelligence.
8. Applying Oil to the Head & Body (Abhyanga)
Rubbing warm oil over the head and body can bring happiness, as well as prevent headache, baldness, graying, and receding hairline. Oiling your body before bedtime will help induce sound sleep and keep the skin soft. You can use sesame oil, warm sunflower, or coconut oil.
9. Bathing & Using Perfumes
Bathing with normal is cleansing and refreshing. It removes sweat, dirt, and fatigue and brings energy to the body, clarity to the mind, and holiness to your life.
Using natural scents, essential oils, or perfumes brings freshness, charm, and joy. It gives vitality to the body and improves self-esteem. (For vata the best scent to use is hina or amber; For pitta, try using khus, sandalwood; Kapha can use amber)
Pranayama is the ancient practice of controlling the breath. You control the duration and frequency of every breath and hold it.
The goal of pranayama is to connect your body and mind. It also supplies your body with enough oxygen while removing toxins. This is meant to provide healing physiological benefits.
It is important to meditate in the morning and evening for at least 10 minutes. Meditate in the way you are accustomed to, or try the “Chanting Meditation”. Meditation brings balance and peace into your life.
12. Have your Breakfast.
Have a nourishing and fulfilling meal. Charge up yourself and BOOM! You are ready to ROCK!
